Scabies outbreak

Scabies has been found in some patients who have been in North Shore Hospital. The patients who have been there from the 17th July 2011 and have scabies symptoms should report this to their doctor for notification to health authorities for tracing purposes and treatment. Treatment of scabies involves applying an ointment which can be purchased from any chemist or prescribed by your doctor. As well as that, hot washing and sunning the sheets and contaminated clothing is required AND treating all household contacts regardless of symptoms.

Influenza vaccination

Subsidised vaccination against this years strains of influenza is coming to an end on 31 July 2011. For those who may be eligible please make contact with Belmont Medical Centre. Just to remind you that influenza is a deadly virus infection and vaccination offers more protection especially those with chronic diseases .
